Plenty of action and a good story, but they try to squeeze too much into this package. It was like watching three movies all in one and the sum was never as good as its parts .I would recommend it, but I wouldn't push it too hard.

The International is a thinker for many. The strong plot will take some studying over time. To add, this is Clive Owen's best performance. He seems fit for thrillers. The ending is the most questionable to many, but I think it's neccessary due to the fact that the banking system can be controlled by the corrupt.

"The International" by Yojimbo

Clive Owen plays an Interpol agent with a grudge, pursuing a multi-national banking corporation whose clients include terrorist states and organized crime. The International is very much in the mold of 60s and 70s Cold War movies, full of methodical investigations of shadowy conspiracies, listening devices and silenced sniper rifles appearing from hotel windows. In fact it was easy for me to imagine a young Michael Caine playing Owen's part; in this way it seemed unusual, almost old fashioned compared to the glut of super fast-paced, shaky-cammed action films we've all become so accustomed to of late. Clive Owen is his usual watchably intense and dour loose cannon, frustrated by bureaucratic superiors and Naomi Watts is decent if a little irrelevant plot-wise. There is no parcouring over ...

Better than I thought it would be..

The International is a gripping espionage/conspiracy thriller directed by German director Tom Tykwer who made Run Lola Run and Perfume. The first part of the film is deliberately paced with a slowly unfolding investigation but this slower pace makes the action scenes resonate all the more when they arrive, and we have seen enough to feel the characters peril. The movie has, for a thriller, quite a European sensibility and I wonder if some American audiences might take umbrage at it's anti-capitalist stance or struggle with the relative lack of action, romance and humour. Clive Owen turns in a great performance as a driven, serious man and is complemented by good performances from the rest of the cast. If you like conspiracy/spy movies or enjoy John Le Carre type novels you will really enj...

Too much gobbledegook about banks.

The International is the kind of movie where everyones afraid to admit what they dont understand, because its supposed to be this extra-smart thriller about bank corruption and greedy CEOs. Dont fall for it - chances are the confusion is probably a result of the movies ultra-convoluted plot, not your own lack of neurons.

The movie stars Clive Owen and Naomi Watts who investigate a bank they suspect is eyebrow-deep in illegal activities after Owen witnesses the sudden and unnatural death of his partner. I dont know what illegal activities they are, and if the movie mentioned them they didnt make it easy enough for ordinary people like you and I to understand. Someone else is assassinated, again who I cant recall because the movie has a hobby of introducing too many characters ...

Internationally Driven

Naomi Watts must have been 3-4 months pregnant in this. It was okay. She was good, but I was hoping for a British or Australian accent in this one. No such luck (American). Clive Owen was hot and so was the scene in the Guggenheim Museum (which this poster alludes to). However, Naomi wasn't in the Guggenheim scene like she is in this poster.

It started out good, then got a little boring, then there was the Guggenheim scene. My friend said she would have liked a little more background on what Clive Owen and Naomi Watts' relationship was supposed to be. The writer claimed he wrote scenes with sexual tension between Clive & Naomi but they didn't make enough sense or have enough purpose, so they were cut. I was satisfied with their relationship, as they worked together, and she had a fami...
